Who Should do Pilates?
Pilates is for EVERYONE!
Pilates caters for everyone, from beginner to advanced. You can perform exercises using your own body weight, or with the help of various pieces of equipment.
A typical Pilates workout includes a number of exercises and stretches. Each exercise is performed with attention to correct breathing techniques and abdominal muscle control. To gain the maximum benefit, you should do Pilates at least two or three times per week. You may notice postural improvements after 10 to 20 sessions.
Rehabilitating clients recovering from disc conditions, hip or knee replacements, and shoulder reconstructions. Pilates will be a great way to rebuild strength and balance to get you moving again.
Sports Pros: Many elite athletes add Pilates to their training program to help prevent injury, and improve muscle recruitment and flexibility. This helps improve your game. I have worked with professional footballers, basketball players, and dancers.
Mature Clients: Staying strong and stable as we get older is important to prevent any injuries or falls. Pilates is a great way to maintain muscular strength, bone density, balance, and proprioception.
Can I do Pilates if I’m pregnant?
Yes! Pilates is great for pre and post-natal.
Your program will be adjusted throughout your pregnancy journey to accommodate the changes in your body. It is important to discuss any details/complications of your current or previous pregnancies. If you are an existing client and become pregnant, it is important to let us know so that your program can be adjusted accordingly.
What should I bring and wear to Pilates?
You will need to wear comfortable clothing so that you are able to move freely. Form-fitting activewear is ideal. It also allows your instructor to see your body alignment and movement.
Clean socks must be worn at all times. You will need to purchase Pilates/Yoga non-slip socks to work on all the Pilates apparatus.
Can I attend if I have an injury?
Absolutely! If you haven't done Pilates before, we highly recommend you start by doing a few private classes.
Unless you have been specifically instructed by your doctor otherwise it is beneficial to continue Pilates. Even if you have a foot in the boot or a broken arm, we can still work on the rest of the body. And in most cases it is encouraged to keep moving the injured area.
Remember, our class sizes are a maximum of 3 people so you will also be given the careful attention you need.
What is your cancellation policy?
The Pilates Clinic has a 24-hours cancellation policy. Full fees will be charged for late cancellations. Exceptions will only be made in emergency situations. You can reschedule your session for a later day in the week subject to availability.
